An SMTP-Relay is a smart host that is used either as an e-mail gateway or, even more interestingly, as an outgoing mail server for larger mail volumes, e.g. for sending newsletters.
Plan your newsletter and send it via the SMTP-Relay and you don't have to adhere to the strict sending guidelines of your web hosting's mail server.
How do I send a newsletter via the SMTP-Relay?
An SMTP-Relay helps with the efficient sending of large quantities. The sending guidelines on this mail server are less strict and you can send a larger number of messages without running the risk of the entire mail server being blacklisted.
The SMTP-Relay relieves your own email server, improves deliverability and reduces the effort involved in managing e-mail delivery.
How exactly do I use the SMTP-Relay?
The SMTP-Relay is stored in your email account in the settings as an outgoing mail server. You can therefore use your usual email program for your mass mailing.
This ensures that incoming mails are received via the regular mail server and sent via the SMTP-Relay.
